about

The version of "Nine Haves" on Quayle-Bopp is edited from a slightly longer recording. The "full" version might make more musical "sense," but the Qualye-Bopp edit is meant as a bridge between the contemplative "Ghosttrain" and the undemanding "Famous." After "Super Artie," songs 4 to 7 become increasingly opaque. I put "Nine Haves," by far the least accessible song, right before "Famous," to highlight the up-beatedness of "Famous."

"Nine Haves" is the only QB song with a guest artist. Segan recorded the percussive "PT Cruiser" phrase which, sliced and processed, accounted for most of the rhythm. I didn't intend the song to actually relate to PT Cruisers. But that interpretation's as good as any other.
